The culminating activity was held on Dec. 23 at the Commonwealth Health Center where the participants, who are from CHC and the Rota Health Center, received their certificates of completion.
A billing and coding specialist converts a medical procedure, diagnosis, or symptom into specific codes to submit a claim for reimbursement.
The specialist must understand company claim policy, assign codes to each diagnosis and procedure, rely on information of disease processes, understand patient request for an initial appointment, and code patient medical records correctly to optimize reimbursement for medical services.
