Based on his personal observation, he noted that some of their regular customers no longer show up to buy holiday products such as fresh Christmas trees.
Most of their customers, he added, are locals, statesiders and Filipinos.
With a lot of guest workers now going back to their country of origin and with local residents migrating to the states, the decrease in holiday sales is expected, he said.
But, he added, the overall sales of Price Costco remain “strong.”
“This is an American company and its brand contributes to the continued success of our operation,” he said.
J.C Tenorio Enterprises Inc., for its part, doesn’t expect a significant decrease in its holiday sales despite the deepening economic slump.
“Our target is to meet the number of customers closest to the figures of last year,” said Jose “J.J” Tenorio, the company’s head buyer and manager.
He did not provide specific figures but he said their stores have just started their holiday promotions, and he could not yet predict if the number of buyers has increased or decreased compared to last year.
