A witness said loud noise was heard outside their room between midnight and 1 a.m., Saturday.
The witness immediately called 911.
“I saw a barefoot man on top of my vehicle, jumping and thumping his foot on my vehicle’s windshield,” said the witness who requested not to be identified for fear of reprisal.
The man was then seen jumping to another car, destroying its front and rear windshields.
Witnesses said the man escaped by running toward an access road, behind the station’s carwash building.
As police were investigating the incident, witnesses saw a man casually walking in front of the station — he was barefoot, tall, wearing light green short pants, and dark-colored shirt.
The police approached the man who was then in front of a poker game room.
“The man was either drunk or high on drugs,” a witness said, recalling how the suspect would jump from one car to another, breaking windshields.
Another witness surmised that the suspect might have first burglarized one of the cars, since its door was left open and things inside were in disarray.
Damaged were a black Toyota Echo, a white Nissan Sentra, a red Kia, a blue Hyundai, a cream Toyota Corolla and a white Toyota Paseo.
Residents and car owners told the Variety that they were earlier advised to lock their vehicles since unidentified persons were seen “checking” parked vehicles in the area.
