PAWS is requesting your help with two animals
(PAWS) — One is a dog that went missing recently. Her name is Meatball, and her information is provided below.
PAWS is asking the public to keep and eye open for this dog and report to us or the owner any dogs that fit the description of Meatball below.
PAWS would like to emphasize that although Meatball is a beautiful dog, she is unable to reproduce, as she has been spayed.
She is deeply missed by her family, and we would like to bring her home as soon as possible.
The second dog is a little female that was rescued about a month ago.
She has been vaccinated, de-wormed, and treated for skin disease.
She is thought to be about 9-12 weeks old, the perfect age for a family with loving and gentle children.
This young pup is available to view and meet at Paradise Island Animal Hospital. Those interested may call the hospital first at 234-9669.
PAWS would like to invite the public to visit its Web site at www.paws-saipan.org to view animals that are currently up for adoption and/or in need of a foster family.
If you or someone you know would like to volunteer for PAWS, or you have an animal-related question, call us at 285-PAWS.
57th annual Christmas drop
ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam (USAF) — The U.S. Air Force will parachute more than 10 tons of donated items to Pacific islanders throughout Micronesia during the 57th annual Operation Christmas Drop on Dec. 16-19.
Operation Christmas Drop kicks off with a “push ceremony” where representatives from the local community and members from Team Andersen will load boxes onto a C-130H that will conduct the drops.
This year, the push ceremony is scheduled for Dec. 15 in Hangar 6 at 9 a.m.
Operation Christmas Drop is a non-profit organization powered by volunteers from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam and the local community that have to date dropped over 800,000 pounds of goods throughout the islands since Operation Christmas Drop inception.
The operation began in Dec. 1952 when locals on the island of Kapingamarangi waved to the crew of a WB-50 flying overhead.
In the spirit of the holiday season, the crew gathered what they could, packed it into a canister, attached a parachute and dropped the goods to the islanders.
Today, the men and women of the U.S. Air Force, the University of Guam, media, local government, businesses, individuals and professional and charitable organizations work together to collect cash and merchandise to deliver toys, clothing, fishing equipment, sporting goods, food items and tools to the remote islands and atolls in the area.

The celebration will highlight an important milestone in the Catholic Church’s presence in, and its historical impact on, a young and diverse commonwealth, led by one of its own through the person of Bishop Camacho.
Camacho, 76, was ordained a priest on June 14, 1961, and was installed as Chalan Kanoa’s first bishop on Jan. 13, 1985.

Camacho announced his intent to retire when he turned 75 years old last year, and the diocese now awaits a new bishop to lead it in the years to come.
An executive committee for the 25th anniversary has been formed and is chaired by Charles and Cathy Cepeda.
Joined by Fr. Ryan Jimenez and Fr. Isaac Ayuyu, they have been meeting with and continue to oversee teams planning the anniversary celebration and jubilee year events.
A series of diocesan-wide settings will be held at the Mount Carmel Cathedral in Chalan Kanoa.

A Eucharistic celebration to commemorate the actual date is set for 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13.
On Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, the novena to the Holy Spirit will be set for 2 p.m., followed at 3 p.m. by a diocesan-wide Mass of Thanksgiving to launch the jubilee year celebration.
