“Today the House affirmed its commitment to the soldiers and families of Echo Company,” said CNMI Congressman Gregorio “Kilili” Camacho Sablan, who authored the resolution.
“This is an honor that Echo Company well deserves. I am very happy to have been able to bring national attention to their service, dedication, and sacrifice,” he said.
H.Con.Res. 199 was debated on the House floor on Monday, Dec. 7.
Sablan’s floor statement on the resolution can be read on the congressman’s website, sablan.house.gov, or viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k81u3bloYvU
The Echo Company commendation is the second piece of legislation, authored by the Northern Mariana Islands congressman, to pass the House. Both passed unanimously.
He also had his bill, H.R. 935, increasing slots at U.S. service academies, bundled into a larger armed services bill that was signed into law by President Obama in October.
The Echo Company resolution now heads to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
