U.S. District Court for the NMI Designated Judge David Wiseman was told by attorney David Banes that his client, Diaz, already signed a plea agreement.
He then moved for a change of plea hearing on Jan. 12, 2010.
Diaz signed the plea agreement on Tuesday, with her other attorney, Michael Dotts, and Assistant U.S. Attorney James J. Benedetto.
Diaz pleaded to one count of aiding and abetting possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
In the criminal information filed in court, the federal government said Diaz, on March 17, 2009, “knowingly and intentionally aided and abetted in the possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute it.”
The information stated that 0.41 actual grams of d-methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as “ice,” was involved.
In the plea agreement, maximum penalties include not more than 20 years imprisonment, and a fine not more than $1 million, a special assessment of $100, and a minimum term of supervised release of six years.
Diaz agreed to cooperate with the U.S. government, as well as with the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
DEA agents arrested Diaz and Jawn Joyner in October for “ice” trafficking.
