He believes the economic downturn will be a “good opportunity” for the postal business.
“People are now doing as much as they can to figure out ways to save money in today’s economy,” he added.
He said the increase in gas prices also helps their business attract more customers as residents of Kagman, Papago, As Teo and Capital Hill now prefer a “more accessible” post office.
“They tell us that they end up saving about $50-$80 per month on gas when they go to us,” he added.
The post office business, which started in 2008, now has over a hundred mailbox clients, Torres said.
He expects the U.S. Postal Services to start charging the public for mailbox use due to the $6 billion deficit that USPS incurred.
