‘Jam Attack’ is back

After  almost two years of hibernation, the Jam Attack that brings regional volleyball players together will set the court once again, for the championship crown.

This time, the event will be hosted by Saipan on Jan. 29, 30 and 31.

The Island Volleyball Club is taking the lead in organizing the 2010 Drug Free Jam Attack Volleyball Tournament, and according to Hopwood Junior High School Principal Jonas Barcinas, they are now reaching out to the volleyball teams in Guam, Rota and Tinian.

IVC is also inviting all volleyball players who participated in the December Drug Free Christmas Volleyball Tournament.

Barcinas said the success of Thanksgiving and Christmas volleyball tournaments late last year inspired them to bring back the annual Jam Attack which NMI volleyball enthusiasts missed in the last  two years.

“The last time we had the Jam Attack was about two years ago, I believe in April of 2008,” Barcinas recalled.

“We are excited to host this event although we are still looking for the venue whether it will be Gilbert C. Ada Gym, Marianas High School Gym or Northern Marinas College Gym. We are hoping to finalize the venue so we can secure our tournament right away,” he added.

The defending champions in men’s division were the players of Team Haggan from Guam and in women’s division were Team Quality spikers, also from Guam.

Isa Masters of Guam won second place.

The entrance fee is $100 dollars. All members must have a number on their shirts. No need to be in uniform for as long as they have a number for monitoring purposes.

All rosters must be sent to Jonas Barcinas at [email protected], Mayumi Ogumoro at [email protected], or Jamata Castro at [email protected].

All entrance fees must be paid on the 29th and team rosters must be submitted no later than the 25th of January.
