The keys to the secret of basketball, Mesa said are in the hands of the player, the coach and referee.
And without one of these three keys, the secret of quality game will remain hidden.
The key that coaches hold is the lesson of fundamentals of basketball and good sportsmanship.
The competitor has his shape, potentials and good character as the key.
The referee has the theory.
None of these keys to the secrets in the basketball includes the habit of complaining in the court, Mesa said.
“I was a competitor, coach and referee. I have pledged never to complain to referees’ decision,” says Mesa who has been in the Guam World Masters since 1990.
He recalled that in his experience as competitor, coach and referee he had never heard any complaints coming from a medal recipient.
“You can’t have the Masters’ game until you have seen them all,” he added.
