2 more in illegal entry case plead guilty

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Alex Munson imposed a one-year probation sentence on Yong Jun Li and Wei Kun Zhong that commenced immediately.

They will be delivered to an authorized U.S. immigration official for removal proceedings.

Defendant Shi Guang Li, who will stand trial on Feb. 23, is currently out issuing $2,500 in  unsecured bond.

Yong Jun Li and Wei Kun Zhong were represented by court-appointed attorneys Anthony Long and Sean Frink respectively.

Assistants U.S. Attorney Eric O’Malley and Kirk Schuler prosecuted the case.

The bench trial of Gov. Benigno R. Fitial’s masseuse Qingmei Cheng and Jian Li — tagged by the prosecution as the two ringleaders of the group — will start on May 10, 2010.

After a month-long incarceration, Cheng was released on a $1,000 bail and $9,000 unsecured bond while Jian Li posted a $2,500 unsecured bond.

Cheng and Jian Li were charged with 22 counts of attempting to bring aliens into the United States, which they both denied.

The rest of the 24 defendants have already  signed plea agreements with the U.S. government.

In the other case illegal entry case, Munson scheduled the bench trials for set April 22, 2010.

The defendants in the Jan. 30, 2010 foiled attempt to enter Guam illegally from Rota using inflatable boats have been released from the Department of Corrections after they each issued a $2,500 unsecured appearance bond.

They are Shixu Huang, Lihua Yi, Jingfan Zhang, Pingping Zhang, and Zhanshan Zhang

The defendants have denied the charges.
