Palau-Airai State receives incinerators from Japan

The incinerators were donated by Harmony of Human (HOH) a non-government Organization based in Japan.

In the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony, Wednesday, led by Gov. Vicky H. Kanai together with Mr. Takahashi Toshiyuki, chairman of HOH along with Yasutomo Sasaki, his Japanese translator, presented the incinerators which is called “Mr. Comfort.”

Mr. Comfort is a magnetic disposer that can treat any organic matters such as raw waste, vinyl chloride, plastic materials and others without sorting out.

The system, the government explained that is not a combustion system such as incinerators so that no black smoke comes out even when petroleum product is put in the disposer. In addition, Mr. Comfort does not require fuel compare with General incinerator that requires electric power and fuel.

The HOH donated the machines after the Environment Quality Protection Board (EQPB) prohibited the Airai government to use its old incinerator.

“The EQPB doesn’t allow us to use our earlier machine. Unfortunately the national government they don’t have any tester but yet they said is not permitted.” Kanai said.

The machine is located at the Airai Public Works Compound, Kanai said . The new incinerator will be used in full blast by March.

She said that she will also educate her constituents about waste segregation from biodegradable to non- biodegradable.

The incinerator in Airai state is one of the pilot project by Gov. Kanai during her four tenure in office.

Meanwhile, Gov. Kanai has announced her bid for re-election in the incoming State Election on March.

She filed her manifestation of intent at the Election Commission on Tuesday. Kanai said that she wants to run again and finish her second term in office in order to continue her goals for the state.
