They need this bloc of votes for Mike Cruz’s gubernatorial candidacy this year.
Another purely political point Adelup has drawn up is the fiscal year budget with an optimistic $600 million figure so that it can fund pay increases for GovGuam workers, much needed but more deficit spending, in my opinion. I mean the government does not have much cash to spare right now and by October we will be flush with it? Please.
But that is the nature of the beast. Usually when administrations close out, they overspend and leave a legacy of ruinous debt. I have to give credit to the governor’s handlers though. They have been exceptional in triangulating issues and playing politics to the hilt so that they might benefit personally from Gov. Felix Camacho’s presence in government. And probably they are hoping for a “Governor Cruz” in the future.
