NMC regents remain mum on Fernandez suspension

Today, the board, which appointed Lorraine Cabrera as interim president, will meet again after it recessed on Jan. 28.

Board Chairwoman Janet H. King on Friday declined to say whether they will discuss the suspension of Fernandez.

But King said they will continue to discuss “personnel matters.”

The meeting will start at 3:30 p.m. in the board of regents conference room on the As Terlaje campus.

When asked about the investigation being conducted by the Attorney General’s Office and a separate NMC team, King also refused to comment.

The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges said it will conduct a “special visit” to NMC because of the “series of events happening at the college,” including the suspension of Fernandez.
