The donated car, a Nissan frontier Crewcab Pickup SE will be used by the PICRC for its outreach program, transportation of personnel and pulling out boats from the water for repair.
PICRC Chief Executive Officer Fabian B. Iyar said the car is a part of phase 2 project of JICA under its technical assistance scheme provided to the PICRC
“JICA is helping PICRC for many years. Since 2002-2006 about $3.5 million worth of technical assistance was given to the agency.” Iyar said in an interview.
The technical assistance comprises of procurement of equipment and machinery as well as the training to the PICRC staff.
He said that JICA is sending its expert to work with the staff and provide them training to become more efficient.
The JICA phase two technical assistance started on 2009 to July 2012. The car donated by the agency is a part of that project.
Along with the car donation, JICA also gave the Memorandum of handover of Equipment to the PICRC.
