These checkpoints are some of the activities of the impaired driving national enforcement crackdown.
Statistical data and information compiled by DPS has shown that from Nov. 2009 to March 15, 2010 there were a total of 62 DUI arrests.
Police officers will also conduct highway criminal interdictions, saturation patrol, and aggressive driver interdictions and laser activities.

Islandwide cleanup
(DEQ) — In celebration of the Environmental Awareness Month in April, the Division of Environmental Quality cleanup brigade is encouraging volunteers to join the islandwide cleanup on April 23. The time will be announced later.
If you would like to volunteer your time to clean and beautify the island, ask your company or agency to sign up with the EAM Committee by filling out the forms and selecting a route to clean.
Volunteers will split into groups and go to the selected beach or roadside, cleaning for about two hours or when finished.

MHS parent literacy night
(MHS) — Marianas High School will be hosting its 3rd Parent Literacy Night on Wednesday, March 31, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the MHS cafeteria.
This event, hosted by the MHS social studies department, will focus on literacy strategies for all academic areas.

Military to conduct training
(EMO) — The U.S. military will conduct military training south of Guam, on March 31, Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Due to the danger imposed by this activity, acting Gov. Eloy S. Inos is advising the general public, especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators, to stay away from this area during the time and dates indicated.

Green flag on Managaha
(DEQ) — The Division of Environmental Quality has assigned the green flag on Managaha’s recreational beaches and storm water drainages.
None of the samples collected contained excessive concentration of fecal indicator bacteria nor did they exceed the CNMI’s marine water quality standards.
