Adachi signs Koror’s Annual Unified Budget for FY 2010

The budget was earlier referred back to the Koror State Legislature for revision. The governor approved the budget after the state legislature made changes that will make it closer to his original budget proposal.

“I asked the Committee to go ahead and agree to the budget that I originally submitted because I feel that according to our constitution, the House of Traditional Leaders have a role in the government,” said the governor. He added that the budget that he prepared is fully justified. “The whole budget for the state basically evolves from the service we provide to the people.”

KSPL No. K-9-215-2010 authorizes the sum of $6,858,082 and appropriates the sum $6,814,707 for general operation, Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and contingencies from Koror State Treasury for Koror State’s an Annual Unified Budget for 2010 fiscal year.

“We met and discussed the whole budget on the items that the Committee on Ways and Means felt and believed should be changed,” said Gov. Adachi.

The measure also amends some laws to allocate funds for road work in Meketii Hamlet, to change road construction from Ibedul Kereel Lane to Ikemus Connecting Road, and to change funding from Ngermeaus Beach Improvement Project to fund a study for a T-Dock/Iyebukl Reef Road study.

The sum of $149,400 is also authorized and appropriated for expenditures and obligations to cover operational and contingent expenses of the House of Traditional Leaders.

The amount of $1,175,432 shall come from National appropriations and unexpended balance from previous CIP project. The balance of $5,639,275 shall come from State’s local revenues and Fishing Rights Fees for 2010.
