Man in ‘ice’ case surrenders to US Marshals

Ada voluntary surrendered on Monday.

The federal court has rescheduled Ada’s sentencing for May 19, 2010. It was originally scheduled for May 12, 2010.

On Friday, Designated Judge David Wiseman granted Assistant U.S. Attorney James Benedetto motion to unseal Ada’s violation hearing.

Ada was represented by attorney F. Matthew Smith.

Federal Probation Officer Melinda Brunson submitted a violation report filed under seal.

It stated that on March 25, 2010, Ada was searched and yielded a black film canister containing urine.

Ada was called to report to the Federal Probation Office for a random urinalysis.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Wolfgang Calvert discovered an object, that later turned to be the black canister, between Ada’s thighs.

Ada immediately admitted to Brunson that he smoked “ice” and marijuana the previous night after he returned home from a Crystal Methamphetamine Anonymous meeting.

Ada told the Federal Probation Office that a friend called him about his sentencing.

When Ada told his friend that he had not been sentenced, the friend offered Ada to come to his house to smoke “ice.”

Ada is currently out on $25,000 unsecured bond and has signed a plea agreement.

On Oct. 6, 2009 Ada was named in a complaint filed by the Drug Enforcement Administration for three counts of possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute.
