DEQ urged to conduct tests on local produce

Camacho, one of the Farmers Support Group’s prime movers, said the reports affect the “integrity” of the Sabalu farmers.

The farmers of  the Sabalu market are complying with the DEQ regulations in the use of chemicals on their farm products, he said.

“To be fair, DEQ should clear the farmers of the Sabalu market from this alleged irregularity,” he added.

He said DEQ, if possible, should conduct random tests on  farm products sold at the Sabalu market in Susupe and at the Tuesday market at the Garapan Fishing Base.

“We have no problem with the inspection. We would welcome if DEQ conducts a test,” said Camacho, a farmer who sells his produce at the Sabalu market.
