14 schools to compete in Parade of Books

Parade of Books coordinator Elly Stoilova yesterday said the schools that will compete are San Vicente, San Antonio, Garapan, GTC, Mount Carmel, Tinian, Koblerville, Chacha’s 6th graders, Sinapalo (Rota), Oleai, Kagman, Golden Harvest, Green Meadow School and Grace Christian School.

Stoilova said the presentations will be judged based on proximity to time frame, costume depiction, enthusiasm of participants, vocal clarity, and over-all adherence to theme.

The parade will start at 2 p.m. and the first performance will begin at about 2:45 p.m.

Each school will be given a maximum of five minutes to perform the skit based on the book they have chosen.

The first place winner will receive $1,000. The second to  fifth placers will receive $750, $500, $300, and $200. A participation prize of $100 will be given to each school that does not win the major prizes.

Also up for grabs are 30 water park passes at the Pacific Islands Club for the winner of the “Best Spirit Award” and an overnight stay for two at the PIC for the best director/producer.
