THE Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigation Bureau has requested a post-mortem examination after launching an investigation into the death of businessman Shayne B. Villanueva, 42.
Investigators want to further analyze the evidence found at the scene before determining the official manner of death, Variety has learned.
According to DPS, on Monday May 19, 2025, at around 10:50 p.m., police received a request for a welfare check at an apartment on Chupak Street in Kagman 3.
“A friend of Mr. Shayne Villanueva was concerned about his well-being after failing to communicate with him since Friday,” Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop said. “At the apartment, officers discovered a body that was already in an advanced state of decomposition,” he added.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau were activated to initiate a death investigation.
Manacop said, “The deceased was later identified and confirmed to be Mr. Shayne Villanueva. This case remains under investigation.”
A request for an autopsy has been submitted to the Attorney General’s Office and is awaiting approval, he added.
“DPS will not provide further details at this time,” Manacop said.
