Kagman girls clinch finals in MISO football

The KHS girls will face for the title on Friday, whoever wins between MHS-1 and Saipan Southern High School that are set to meet today at the SSHS ball field.

Dione Diaz gave the KHS the upper hand as she completed a cross pass and goaled from the right side in the 24th minute of the first half.

MHS-2 went more aggressive pushing the KHS girls in defensive stance in the rest of the first half. KHS defenders and its goalie however, managed to protect their lead holding MHS-2 scoreless towards the half time break.

In the 10th minute of the second half, the KHS girls wanted to finish MHS-2 off pushed the game too close to the box.

Mercedez Mesa’s goal attempt was blocked but the MHS-2 defenders hit their own goal in the process, allowing KHS’s lead to strengthen to 2-0.

MHS-2’s determination to come back caused a KHS defender to commit a hand ball putting Deveney Dela Cruz to the penalty spot two minutes to the ball game. Dela Cruz hit the goal to trim the lead down to 1.

MHS-2 tightened the defense and got ball possession but the time ran out handing KHS the 2-1 victory.
