Palms Resort Saipan’s GM resigns

“The date is not fixed yet when I will be leaving and when I will start my next work,” Issa said.

He started working as general manager of the Palms Resort Saipan in October 2008.

“I’m sad to leave the island that I have grown to love. I feel sad to leave friends I have made over the years, and the support of the community. I love the island, the quality of life, the friendly people and the way of life here but I have to move on,” he added.

Issa said he will be visiting Saipan from time to time.

“I am asking the community to continue supporting the Palms Resort Saipan the way they have supported it during my time there,” Issa said.

The 64-year-old Issa said he hopes to continue serving the people in his new endeavor on Guam.

Issa stayed for over seven years on Saipan. A native of Egypt, Issa graduated from the Higher Institute of Commerce in Morocco with a degree in finance and economics and a postgraduate diploma in marketing in Sydney, Australia.

He worked at the Hyatt Regency Saipan from May 1996 to October 2001. He also held marketing and management positions in Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Saipan, Guam and Osaka, Japan.

Before he returned to Saipan, Issa was the director of marketing, Australia Pacific, representing Hyatt International in Sydney. Overall, his experience in the hospitality industry runs to over 40 years but he is not ready to stop there.

Palms Resort Saipan assistant general manager Ray C. Dela Cruz is the acting manager until the management finds a replacement as general manager.

“For now, there will be no major changes. Things will go on, the hotel operations will move on as usual until a new general manager will be here to fill the vacancy left by Issa,” Dela Cruz said.
