She said they transport the patients from the airport to the Commonwealth Health Center and other medical clinics on Saipan.
Basa said they also transport dialysis patients to CHC for their regular examination.
At present, the four housing units at the liaison office are occupied by dialysis patients.
Some patients are booked at low-cost hotels, she said, adding it is cheaper to allow the patients to stay on Saipan rather than fly them back and forth to Rota.
Rep. Teresita A. Santos, Ind.-Rota, said the government has allocated $300 for each dialysis patient per month.
At present, she said, they have 17 patients.
Basa said they have five drivers who take turns in using the office’s vehicle when transporting the patients.
“Without the vehicle it would be impossible for the office to operate,” she added.
Efren Atalig, chief of staff of Rota Mayor Melchor A. Mendiola, said they have two vehicles assigned to the liaison office.
