In this trip he will learn about other cultures, engage in educational and fun activities, and meet local citizens.
Student ambassadors come from diverse backgrounds, but share common traits: a curious and adventurous spirit, an open mind and heart, the desire to learn about other cultures and people, and the belief in the vision of People to People founder, President Dwight Eisenhower, that each person can make a difference and help to achieve peace through understanding.
People to People selected Josh and other 35 students throughout San Diego, California, where he is now a student, to represent the U.S. in this program.
The program’s mission is to provide students with unparalleled access to people and places beyond compare, preparing them for success in a globalized world by making friends locally and globally.
Student ambassadors visit schools, experience home stays, absorb world culture through firsthand exploration, meet with government experts, and enjoy unique insider access to significant people and places.
Student ambassadors prepare for this experience well in advance and are asked to keep a daily journal and participate fully in all activities for academic credit. Students build their leadership skills while working as a team with other students and making friends in a well-supervised environment of cultural exploration. Comparing cultures and ways of life helps students promote peace through understanding.
Josh and his parents would like to thank all his relatives, friends, and all the local people who have helped and assisted in the fundraising efforts for his possible travel.
