HARRY Wells and Ram “Korean Blood” Lee won the main and semi-main events, respectively, at Trench Tech’s Ring of Fire 3 held at the Garapan Round House on Saturday night.
Main event
Harry Wells of Guam Muay Thai defeated Latte Built’s Teipo “Brazy” Asep by unanimous decision, 30-27, after three rounds in the K-1 Boxing main event.
Like Wells, Asep entered the ring with confidence — despite stepping in as a replacement fighter on short notice.
Asep used his reach to his advantage with sneaky uppercuts and well-timed leg kicks to keep Wells at a distance.
But after a minute of stand-and-bang exchanges, Wells found his rhythm, building momentum with excellent head movement and slipping jabs and hooks in between to gain a slight edge on the scorecards.
In the second round, Asep’s hands began to drop more frequently, leaving openings for Wells to exploit with a series of combinations.
When pressured, Asep would clinch to catch a break, but Wells capitalized with a knee to the body, maintaining the upper hand.
Although the odds favored Wells, Asep never showed signs of quitting. The fighters continued exchanging heavy blows, with big swings connecting repeatedly yet both shook their heads, signaling how ineffective each impact was.
It came down to the judges after three rounds, with Wells earning a unanimous decision victory against Asep.
“I’m still trying to perfect my craft and going in the ring and staying composed — I didn’t do that in the beginning.” said the 18-year-old Wells. “But I knew that I was the better fighter. I just wanted to win.”
Wells has been fighting for the past two years now and credits Guam Muay Thai for his accomplishments. He aims to become a professional fighter one day.
“I just want to tell my mom I love her and I want to thank GMT for everything,” Wells said.
Semi-main event
In the semi-main event, Ram “Korean Blood” Lee of Trench Tech Saipan defeated Josh “Big Daddy” Mesa of Guam Muay Thai via unanimous decision.
It was another nail-biting match, with both fighters going at it from start to finish.
Lee took on the role of aggressor, applying relentless forward pressure while landing quick jabs and chopping leg kicks. Even when Mesa responded with powerful counters, Lee shook them off and continued unleashing a flurry of punches and kicks.
By the third round, exhaustion was evident on Mesa’s face, and Lee capitalized on the opportunity with a flurry of strikes. Running on fumes by the third round, Mesa managed to go the distance, but Lee walked away with a unanimous 30-27 win on the scorecards.
