Acknowledging his contributions to preserving the historical documents of the CNMI, Del Rosario was given three awards and recognition at the NMC library on Wednesday during a retirement celebration hosted by the college.
The celebration was also witnessed by Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan who presented a plaque of appreciation to Del Rosario.
NMC acting interim President Barbara Merfalen presented an NMC Appreciation Award to Del Rosario who also received an honorary lifetime library patron membership from archive specialist Tonny Goodbad.
Magiel Smith, NMC library technician, presented a Hafa Adai lei to Del Rosario.
In their remarks, Merfalen, NMC dean of student services Leo Pangelinan and Curriculum Resource Center program coordinator Greg Sablan recognized the vital role played by Del Rosario in preserving and collecting important political and historical records of the CNMI.
“He made tremendous inputs in preserving the historical treasures of the islands,” Pangelinan said.
Marfalen said Del Rosario will be greatly missed by the college.
Del Rosario, for his part, narrated how he struggled to maintain the CNMI Archives which allowed many researchers on and off-island to obtain information not available anywhere else.
“This institution paid a very important role in my life and my family,” he said.
During the program, Dean Borja and Amber Mendiola sang “Triste Yu” which was composed by Del Rosario.
Janel Deleon Guerrero, for her part, made a video presentation featuring Del Rosario.
Bishop Tomas A. Camacho led the blessing of the lunch provided by the staff of the NMC Division of Student Services and the family and friends of Del Rosario.
