The two day tournament kicked off last Saturday at 6 a.m. in the morning and officially ended when the siren call was blown on Sunday at 6 p.m.
There were over 60 boats with over 50 crewmen and captains that joined this year’s 26th International Saipan Fishing Derby.
There were five categories to compete in which were:
The Bill Fish category, Yellow-Fin category, Wahoo category, Mahi category, Skip-Jack category and the main event:
Total Weight category. In the Bill Fish category team Warriors’ 248 pounder took home 1st place, team Botin Saba won 2nd place with 144.85 pounds and team San Juan III came in 3rd with 127.75 pounds. Under the Yellow Fish category, 1st place went to team San Juan III with 44.20 pounds, 2nd place went to team CM438 PU with 38.55 pounds, and 3rd place went to team Third Day with 9.45 pounds.
In the Wahoo category, 1st place went to team Joker III with 31.95 pounds, 2nd place went to team Saina with 22.25 pounds, and 3rd place went to team J. Jr with 18.25 pounds. In the Mahi Mahi category 1st place went to team Flame of Love with 19.90 pounds, 2nd place went to team Sea Water with 14.90 pounds, and 3rd place went to team Keliani-Ko with 11.20 pounds.
And in the final category for Skip Jack 1st place went to team Aqua Holic with 10.95 pounds, 2nd place went to team Shekinah I with 10.70 pounds, and 3rd place went to team Yellow Boat with 9.90 pounds.
