The award will be presented next month at the 2010 12th Annual National Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Program Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California.
The Criminal Justice Planning Agency, Office of the Governor, is the designated state administering agency for Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws, or EUDL, program in the CNMI.
“I am pleased to share this national recognition and award with all of our EUDL hardworking partners, for their commitment and untiring efforts to enforce underage drinking laws and implement programs here in the CNMI” said CJPA Executive Director, Jerome Ierome.
The CNMI Criminal Justice Planning Agency, along with all the other U.S. territories, first received EUDL grant funding in 2008 from the U.S. Department of Justice.
With the strong support of the CNMI Youth Advisory Council and the Juvenile Justice Task Force, the CNMI has been able to successfully implement the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws program in the past two years.
“I would like to thank and recognize Governor Fitial and. Lt. Governor Inos, both current and past members of the CJPA’s Supervisory Council and Youth Advisory Council for their guidance, leadership, and support,” Ierome said.
“My extended congratulations to the EUDL Task Force and all the agencies and programs who made true sacrifices to push forward the successful implementation of the EUDL program in the past two years. This award is your success story. Also, I would like to take this opportunity to dearly commend and recognize my CJPA staff, especially our CNMI EUDL Program Coordinator Mr. Vincent N. Camacho Jr. for the courage and hard work to assure funding requirements are prioritized.”
