Without an independent board, he added, there is a “potential for arbitrary and capricious decision” in the hiring of a new NMC president.
It is the NMC board of regents that hires the college president.
In the states, Rasa said, specifically in California, applicants for a college position need to be certified or licensed by an independent board.
“This entity will certify whether the applicant is capable or not of doing the job he’s applying for,” Rasa said in an interview.
He was one of those who attended the forum conducted by the NMC Presidential Search Committee to solicit inputs from the community.
