Public hearing on improved status tonight

Tonight’s event will be held at the multi-purpose center from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Senate Vice President Jude U. Hofschneider, R-Tinian, who chairs the committee, said he’s inviting all indigenous people and nonresidents to participate in the hearing and share their opinions about the issue.

The committee is tasked to submit a report in August to the Senate.

The report will then be submitted to the U.S. Congress which will decide whether to pass a law  improving the status of CNMI guest workers — a move opposed by the commonwealth government.
