The Pistang Pinoy will be held at the Civic Center from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on June 13.
Yana said they have also invited performers from various community organizations.
UFO will showcase Filipino culture and traditions, food, entertainment and other activities during the festivities, she said.
Prior to the opening of Pistang Pinoy, the Philippine Consular General Office will treat the Filipino community to a breakfast at the Filipino Welfare Resource Center at the Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe.
Yana said the Gloria Die choir of Mt. Carmel Cathedral will perform the opening song.
This year’s celebration is sponsored by IT&E, Marpac, Western Union and the Tan Siu Lin Foundation.
Basketball tournament
UFO will also hold a 3 on 3 basketball tournament.
Paul Madriaga, UFO league coordinator, said the elimination round will be held on June 10, 11 and 12 at the JP Center.
The final games and the awarding ceremony will be held at the Civic Center on June 13, to coincide with the Pistang Pinoy celebration.
There will also be side games such as 3-point and half court shooting.
The event is open to Filipino workers and Filipino-Americans.
The entrance fee is $50 per team with a maximum of five players per team.
The champion will receive cash prize and a medal or a trophy.
Madriaga said the prizes will depend on the number of participating teams and the contribution from donors.
“The mechanics will also depend on the number of teams,” he added.
Madriaga is requesting companies on Saipan to donate prizes for the tournament.
