Man who trades ‘ice’ for stolen items arrested

Hong Wang, who resides in Garapan, appeared before Superior Court Associate Judge Perry B. Inos for his Gerstein hearing yesterday afternoon.

Inos imposed $30,000 cash bail on Wang without prejudice.

Inos found probable cause for the arrest and detention of Wang on charges of possession of controlled substance, trafficking of controlled substance, and conspiracy to trafficking of controlled substance.

Inos remanded Wang, who was assisted by a translator, to the custody of the Department of Corrections.

Assistant Attorney General Shelly Neal represented the government.

In his affidavit in support of an eavesdropping search warrant, Detective Raymond I. Sablan said on July 20, 2010 a cooperating source came to the department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau.

The cooperating source said Wang traded “ice” for stolen items, such as laptops, PSP, pieces of jewelry, I-phones, digital cameras or  PS3.

The cooperating source said his last exchange with Wang was last month — a Wii game for  0.2 gram of ice at a Laundromat in Koblerville.
