Governor Edwin T. Chiokai said they moved the celebration from July 1 to a new date following the meeting with the members of the legislature.
The constitutional day of the Kayangel State is on July 1. Earlier reports, the celebration will be held on this day in to coincide with the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected officials.
In an interview, Chiokai said they are planning to conduct the celebration on July 2, a day after their swearing in.
He said the Constitutional Day celebration might be held at the Kayangel State Office while their swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Supreme Court at 9 a.m
However in the last meeting, the governor confirmed that the Constitutional Day commemoration was moved to September 30 and their installation is still on July 1.
This is the first time that the Constitutional Day will be celebrated on September.
The Kayangel State was established on July 1, 1984.
Meanwhile, legislator- elect Midas Ngiracheluolu was elected as the Speaker of Kayangel State Legislature (KSL) while Inawo Sebaklim was the Vice-Speaker and Roman Mongami was elected as Floor-leader.
According to the Kayangel Governor’s Office the KSL first session will be conducted on the second Tuesday of July.
