On Thursday, the NMC board of regents, in a closed-door meeting, “adjusted” the salary of the interim president,
Lorraine Cabrera, from $47,000 to $80,000, retroactive from Jan. 12, when she was named interim president.
Also on Thursday, the board approved Cabrera’s appointment.
Variety was told that the “board met to satisfy the legal questions that may come up pertaining to those issues.”
Board Chairwoman Janet H. King has said that Cabrera will continue to act as interim president until the case of Fernandez is resolved.
Today, the regents will meet to hold a hearing on Fernandez.
The hearing was originally scheduled last week but it was postponed due to the board’s “procedural lapses.”
