“Students still have over a week to work on their drawings,” Sonia Siwa of PDM Promoters said.
So far, she said only artwork from students of Koblerville Elementary School has been turned in, but they have received confirmation that other schools, like Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School, will also submit drawings.
“We are still waiting for the other schools,” Siwa said.
The artwork will be displayed at the Paseo de Marianas promenade side by side with the drawings of tourists.
“As much as possible, we encourage our student artists to draw something that depicts the islands, how they see the CNMI and how they would like to invite tourists to come here,” Siwa said.
The tourists will also be asked to portray in their artworks how they see the islands.
Students who have the ability to draw or produce any artwork are encouraged to submit their drawings to their teachers.
“We will collect the artwork from the teachers and not from individual students,” Siwa said.
The artwork should be in an 11×8 or legal size paper.
The community is also invited to show their support for the students and view the artwork beginning July 1 as the 10th Stamp Rally Campaign kicks off to encourage tourists and locals to patronize local businesses.
Over 20 participating stores, restaurants and businesses at the Paseo de Marianas will distribute stamps for every purchase made from their establishments, and customers can redeem them for gift packages or other prizes.
