Melson Miko, PVA community/support services manager said that based on their monitoring of hotels, stores and other businesses their sales jumped to 100 percent.
He said the boosting of economy is due to the arrival of US Navy Fleet, Delegates of the Presidential Summit and athletes of the Micronesian Games wherein hotels were fully booked as well as the boats were all rented out.
The PVA estimates increase of tourist arrivals between 6,000 to 7,000 in July.
Miko added that based on their initial reports from July 1 to 20 the tourists already reached to 5,000 excluding July 21 to 31. The July 21 to 31 figures are still being consolidated but PVA estimated it to reach to 2,000.
He said that the final statistics will be finished by next week.
Meanwhile after the successful launch of Palauan Night Market, the PVA is now preparing for the upcoming Olechotel Belau Fair (OBF).
This event will be tentatively scheduled on October 1 will showcase the traditional dance, games foods, and arts and crafts of Palau.
Miko said this event is in collaboration between the PVA and the Ministry of Community and Cultural Affairs.
