Veterans Affairs office hopes to open clinic in September

CNMI Military and Veterans Affairs executive director Ruth Coleman yesterday said everything may be finalized in a couple of months.

“We really hope that by September, the clinic will be opened to serve our veterans,” Coleman said.

Over the past year, some of the veterans’ medical needs have been attended to by Dr. Kendall Gladding, a psychologist at Dr. Norma Ada’s clinic at the Marianas Associates of the Pacific.

Coleman said the new VA clinic located at the MH2 Building in Puerto Rico  needs furniture, computers, other equipment and more requirements before they can officially open it.

She said  the opening of the VA clinic on Guam has also been delayed.

“They are planning for a simultaneous opening of the VA clinics on Guam and Saipan, and we hope to tie up all the loose ends by September,” Coleman said.

The VA office is doing the best it can to serve the medical needs of over a thousand veterans in the CNMI, she added.

The CNMI has over a thousand veterans, about 900 of whom are on Saipan while the rest are staying on Tinian and Rota.
