Yesterday afternoon, Sasamoto, 34, appeared in the custody of the Department of Corrections for his Gerstein hearing in the courtroom of Associate Judge Perry Inos.
However, the matter did not push through after the defense and the government agreed to waive the Gerstein hearing and finding of probable cause.
Sasamoto is being held for violating a temporary restraining order, assault, disturbing the peace, and criminal trespass.
Inos granted the oral motion of Sasamoto’s attorney Edward Manibusan to allow the defendant to pay a $500 cash bail as 10 percent of the $5,000 bail, and to post the remaining $4,500 as an unsecured or appearance bond.
Chief Prosecutor Rosemond B. Santos did not oppose the motion.
She also moved that Sasamoto should not have any contact with his victim, on top of standard pretrial release conditions.
A detective who declined to be named said Sasamoto followed the victim to a school.
While attempting to talk to the victim while she was inside the car, Sasamoto punched her car window.
Sasamoto then followed the victim to her residence in Dandan after she sped away from the defendant.
