“Effective this date [April 8] and until April 27, 2010, Mr. Ambrosio T. Ogumoro is hereby designated as acting commissioner of public safety until the return of Mr. Tudela,” Gov. Benigno R. Fitial said in his memorandum.
Tudela’s leave took effect on April 10.
Ogumoro was designated deputy commissioner of DPS last February and was tasked to oversee the operational and administrative functions of the agency.
“Assuming the responsibility is not a new thing; however, understanding the sacrifice and to be proficient to do what’s best is one of the many things that I will contribute for the betterment of the department,” Ogumoro said in a statement upon his appointment.
Following Tudela’s appointment, commanders and officers in charge in the fire and police divisions were also reassigned.
