PRIME continues to be the team to beat in the women’s open division of the 2025 Allied Pacific Environmental Consulting Basketball League, remaining undefeated after a 52-44 win over the Air Ballers on Saturday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
Prime may have been the favorite, but the Air Ballers dominated the first half with Irish Pagarao scoring 17 points.
Defensively, the Air Ballers also performed well, locking down most of Prime’s scorers. Only Azriel Fatialofa managed to force her way into the paint and draw fouls along the way.
However, the pressure proved too much for Prime, resulting in more misses than makes and leading to fastbreak opportunities for the Air Ballers, who built a double-digit lead at 25-11.
In the second half, momentum shifted as Prime’s players stepped up their game.
Aiyana Fatialofa acted as the spark plug, knocking down back-to-back shots, while her sister, Azriel, picked up where she left off, scoring six straight points to cut the deficit.
Pagarao was held to just two points, as Prime’s defense forced the rest of the Air Ballers to carry the load.
The Air Ballers couldn’t shake their offensive slump and eventually lost the lead, as Prime continued to execute on the other end. Aiyana and Rosie Saralu finished strong in the final minutes to seal the 52-44 victory.
Winners, too
The Hericanes joined the celebration as they claimed the second game in the women’s open division by outplaying the Beach Front Ballers, 50-37.
