Prior to the incident, the 34-year-old Pangelinan went to her room at Phoenix Motel in Papago before midnight Tuesday.
Detective Simon Manacop said the victim, Tehani Kirby, was with her boyfriend Tomy Joab when Pangelinan tried to break into the room.
Pangelinan started banging on the front door and shouted that he would kill Joab, Manacop said.
Pangelinan later went to the back of the room, destroyed its sliding glass door and walked in with a concrete brick in his hand, Manacop said.
Joab tried to hide in the bathroom but he was followed by Pangelinan who started punching Joab’s face.
Responding police officers saw blood stains in the area and on a vehicle in the motel’s parking lot.
Joab returned to Kirby’s room hours later and met the police officers.
Joab had swelling bruising, and lacerations on his face, police said.
Superior Court Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona retained the $10,000 cash bail imposed on Pangelinan who appeared with an injured right arm during his initial court appearance yesterday.
Pangelinan was being held on the charges of disturbing the peace, criminal mischief, assault and battery, and criminal trespass.
Pangelinan was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the hearing.
