Regent Andrew Orsini said he respected the decision of his colleague.
“His decision is based on his personal reasons,” Orsini said.
“All actions/decisions made by the board members are done on a professional basis and there are no ill personal feelings among the membership. I do want to thank Charles for his service to NMC and credit him for his leadership in 2009, when NMC was granted full accreditation,” Orsini said.
The board is scheduled to elect its officers this Friday.
Meanwhile, the board will be working hard to regain NMC’s full accreditation, Orsini said.
The board, he added, will also address the lawsuit filed by former NMC President Dr. Fernandez against some regents.
“The board looks forward to the judicial process to resolve such legal issues once and for all in NMC’s favor,” he said.
