Gensler said that they are very grateful for the warm appreciation and support given to them during their stay.
“We want to say thank you as much as we can to them for everything they provided to us. I wish I could stay longer.” Gensler said in an interview.
The US Army team will be replaced by US Navy or the Seabees who are already here in Palau onboard the USS Blue Ridge and conducting community service projects in the different States.
US Army team led by 1LT Christopher Gensler arrived on the Island on January. They replaced the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One on January 15, 2010 during the turn over ceremony held at Camp Katuu.
During the US Army tour of duty they held various community service projects. They continued the Palau High School Fence which started by the previous teams. They worked on the construction of Police/Fire Sub-station in Ngardmau State in which according to Gensler it is 35 percent completed as well as in the improvement of Palau Firing Range in Aimeliik State. They also assisted on some ongoing and potential projects of different States.
The team is now starting to pass invites to different government departments and other people they met in the community for the turnover ceremony.
