Drought in Micronesia over

The report said although drought conditions for any of the islands in Micronesia are no longer expected, the Marshall Islands, Saipan and Tinian should continue to conserve water until their drinking water sources are partially recharged.

“Drought conditions are no longer expected for the Mariana Islands. This recent drought…although shorter in duration than normal was one of the driest periods in the Mariana Islands in the last 30 years,” part of the report stated.

The La Niña phase in the region began in late July or early August and will run throughout the year.
