Detective Sabino Cabrera said Jack Esiwini Sachuo was arrested on the charge of disturbing the peace, criminalmischief, assault and battery, and resisting arrest.
Sachuo was taken into custody and is detained at the Department of Corrections facility.
He is expected to appear in Superior Court for his initial appearance today.
Sachuo’s bail was set at $2,500 cash by Judge Kenneth Govendo.
Cabrera said officers Jessie Seman, Catherine Pangelinan, Edwin Aguon and Olympio Muna responded to a disturbance call at 99 Cents Super Market at about 12:42 a.m. on Friday.
As responding officers were about to take custody of Sachuo who was subdued by other people in the area, the defendant struggled, managed to get loose, and hit Pangelinan in the face with his swinging right arm.
The officers eventually handcuffed Sachuo.
