“They will come here to look into our school system,” she told Variety.
She did not disclose the names of these officials, but she said Congressman Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan has been planning to bring them to the CNMI so they can see how local schools and their students are doing.
Commissioner Sablan said the Public School System will show the federal education officials its successes, challenges and “where they can continue to provide support.”
“We would like to take them to all of our schools, to talk to our parents, teachers and to see how our students are performing,” she added.
She thanked the efforts of Congressman Sablan and his “proactive support for education.”
In a separate interview, Congressman Sablan said the federal educational officials are supposed to visit during the first week of September.
But he said there’s a conflict of his schedule so the visit may be rescheduled for October.
“This is the way to build relationships and how we can get more help,” he said, referring to his invitation to the U.S. education officials.
He said PSS officials are very happy to learn about the visit.
“I am proud of the capacity and competence of our public school system, its officials, administrators, teachers and students,” he added.
