Following their six point lead at the end of the first quarter, the Sixers ultimately had no choice but to depend on their five key players throughout the game.
Unlike the Sixers, the Bud Ice Rollers had the advantage of substituting their players at certain points of the game.
By doing so, the Rollers had a sufficient amount of energy to keep them steady during all four quarters.
Surprising both the audience and their opponents, the Sixers remained resilient in their offensives. Sixers’ player and leading scorer Joseph Ada pounded a total of 31 points, jumping his team beyond the Rollers’ reach.
A three-pointer from Manuel Matagolai in the fourth quarter brought the Rollers closer to their rivals – unfortunately for them, the Sixers guaranteed their win after Ada boosted his team by 10 points from five consecutive baskets.
Meanwhile, Matthew Duenas provided crucial support for the Sixers by securing rebounds and stacking 20 points in the game.
Hi-5s Slip past Ol’ Aces, 86-76.
The Bacardi Mojito Hi-5s endured a stunning win against the Bud Light Lime Ol’ Aces, scoring 81-76 last Wednesday night at Ada Gym.
Like the Sixers from the first game that evening, the Hi-5s’ skills were put to the test when all its five players had to undergo a grueling game against the Ol’ Aces without any substitutes. The only rests they received were from the brief time outs and intermissions between each quarter.
Nonetheless, Hi-5’s Dave Sablan and Sonny Lerio packed a combined a total of 61 points. The Hi-5’s victory attributed to their accurate shooting, especially against the Ol’ Aces’ tight defense.
The Ol’ Aces took advantage of the Hi-5s after Sablan and Lerio began to falter in the fourth quarter, where they nearly caught up with 29 points. Near the end of the game, Ol Aces’ Marvin Rabauliman swoops past the Hi-5s with a reverse lay-up and two other two-pointers that nearly risked the Hi-5s of being defeated.
With a few seconds left, Hi-5’s Wowie Abuel gets hold of the ball after a quick steal and stalls for the time to run out.
