26th Annual Saipan Fishing Tournament set for Saturday

Marianas Variety learned yesterday that all boats checking out after 8 A.M MUST check out at the Smiling Cove Marina. ALL boats must check back in at the Smiling Cove Marina regardless of any catch or by contacting the tournament headquarters; failure to check in will result in disqualification for the day. All boats must be inspected by Tournament Officials and in order for the catch to qualify or officially be tallied it must be weighed by the official tournament Weigh Master at the official weighing station in Smiling Cove Marina. Shooting, harpooning or lancing a fish during any stage of the Tournament will disqualify the fish. Firearms are prohibited in the tournament. Each entered but must pay a $150.00 fee for two people and an extra $25.00 for the Angler. The official fishing hours are 6 A.M to 6 P.M on Saturday and Sunday. The competitors for this competition will battle it all out in 5 different categories. They are: The Bill Fish category, Yellow-Fin category, Wahoo category, Mahi category, Skip-Jack category and the main event: Total Weight category. All of these categories are from 1st to 3rd place except the Total Weight category. The prizes for the winning categories are yet to be announced later on in the event.
