Saipan mayor’s office gets 20 student trainees

Martha Sablan, the office of the mayor’s human resource manager, said the WIA trainees came in two batches.

The first group of nine students reported for work from July 6 to Aug. 2. They performed the tasks of a customer clerk, an administrative assistant, a nursery assistant and a mechanical helper.

The second batch started working for the mayor’s office on Aug. 3 and their training ends on the 30th.

Those assigned to the mayor’s field office in Lower Base as mechanical helpers are not allowed to use power-driven devices unless they are 18 years old above, Sablan said.

The trainees are learning fast and are willing to learn, she said, adding that the mayor’s office encouraged them to perform actual and hands-on training.

The students came from different schools on Saipan.

Sablan said the mayor’s office will evaluate the performance of the students and submit a report to WIA, which is responsible for releasing the payroll of the trainees.
