Man in ‘ice’ case gets bail modification

Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo required the 37-year-old Cabrera to post a $30,000 property bond, and to be released to Maria and Rose Reyes as his third party custodians.

Cabrera is being held on the charge of illegal possession of controlled substance, trafficking of controlled substance, and conspiracy to trafficking of controlled substance along with co-defendant Pedro Rediall Demapan, 38, who is still at large.

In his affidavit, Detective Roque K. Camacho said he and Drug Enforcement Task Force Detective Sean White were told by a cooperating source on July 10, 2010 about the drug activities of Demapan who was operating in Chalan Kanoa.

On July 12, 2010, the CNMI Drug Enforcement Task Force, which included Customs and the Criminal Investigation Bureau, conducted a monitored control buy walk operation after securing an eavesdropping search warrant issued from Associate Judge David A. Wiseman.

The cooperating source called up Demapan, and ordered $100 worth of “ice.” Demapan then instructed the cooperating source to meet at a store in Chalan Kanoa.

While waiting for Demapan, the cooperating source said a 1994 Ford Taurus GL silver Sedan with license plate “MarJoe” arrived with Cabrera behind the steering wheel.

The cooperating source was then called by Cabrera to get into the vehicle, where a clear Ziplock containing “ice” was handed by Cabrera to the cooperating source, police said.
